The Thunder Bay Oils Sands Consortium is a group of 25 companies located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, offering significant capability and capacity relating to the design, manufacture, repair, and installation of a broad range of products fabricated from metal. Collectively, the member companies represent over 500,000 square feet of facilities, and a workforce of approximately 800 employees. The Consortium members collectively have hundreds of years of experience and expertise in providing comprehensive, time-sensitive, and cost-effective solutions to the needs of heavy industry, including the Oil and Gas sector. They also have bonding capabilities.

The Thunder Bay Oil Sands Consortium members represent a broad cross-section of metal working firms and related goods and services, including the following areas:

- fuel train and components for propane and natural gas utilization
- registered piping fabrication
- structural steel supply, fabrication, and erection
- sheet metal/HVAC design, supply, manufacture and installation

- mechanical contractors/fabricators
- ship fabrication/repair
- truck trailer manufacturing
- industrial painting and coatings
- transportation services (including international marine – Port of Thunder Bay)

The heavy industrial clients serviced by these firms include the mining sector, forest products (pulp & paper as well as lumber), grain handling, and manufacturing operations. The Thunder Bay Oil Sands Consortium members have been involved in multi-million dollar projects in all of these areas. Several of the companies have already successfully completed projects in the Oil Sands sector.
